HVAC Classification
Two classifications of HVAC Systems are central or local. A central provides heating or cooling from a central place within the structure. This place can be either a furnace or boiler. Central HVAC systems work by circulating heat via water, steam, or air through the building’s ductwork until the desired temperature is reached.
There are two types of central HVAC systems, radiant heat and forced air.
Forced Air Central HVAC systems work by first heating an exchanger. Then it pushes air through the exchanger, which heats the air, then circulates it throughout the ductwork and into each room through vents.
Radiant Heat central HVAC systems work by pushing steam or water through a network of radiators located in each room.
Local HVAC systems include wood stoves, gas stoves, pellet stoves, or even fireplaces.
